Clara & Trent | Colorado Adventure Elopement
Somebody pinch me! I still feel like I’m dreaming.. my very first out-of-state wedding was an adventure elopement in the mountains of Colorado?! Yes, please! Trent and Clara’s wedding day was an absolute dream come true! I met them in the morning at their cozy rental cabin in Breckenridge, where they and about a dozen of their family were staying. The weather was perfect–warm (but not hot!) with a cool breeze and the freshest air this Texas girl had breathed in a good while. Earlier in the morning, Trent had visited the ceremony site and brought back some moss, which he used to make a terrarium as a gift for his bride. Such a sweet, romantic gesture! Plus, it added an extra pop of color and sentiment to the detail shots.
Next, everyone donned their hiking boots, loaded up, and headed out to get these two hitched! After about a 30-minute drive, we (almost) arrived to the spot that had been carefully scouted out in the days prior. All that was left to do was trek up a hill. Dang, that thing was steep! But soooo worth it! At the end of our 10 minute hike was a breathtaking overlook, with nothing but mountains in the distance for miles. Quilts were cleverly hung from a clothesline so Clara could put on her wedding dress, then it was time for the ceremony.
As Clara walked down the aisle, she and Trent locked eyes for the first time that day. They read hand-written vows before exchanging rings, then their fathers prayed over them as everyone partook in communion. Finally, they shared a kiss as husband and wife, concluding one of the most beautiful ceremonies I’ve been a part of. As their guests departed, I stayed behind with the new Mr. & Mrs. to explore the mountains. We found some truly remarkable places to take photos, and we had such a good time! It ended up briefly sprinkling on us, but it honestly added to the fun.
When we arrived back to the cabin, a colorful tablescape and scrumptious lunch was waiting. I snapped a few photos, then left them to celebrate in private. The whole day was magical and really placed the focus on what mattered most–the union of Trent & Clara. I feel lucky to have been a part of it! Congratulations to the happy couple!
